Getting Married in Stinson: What It Actually Takes (And Why We Love It Anyway)

Stinson Beach is one of the most magical places in Northern California to get married. It's also not for the faint of heart — and we tell every couple that from the very first conversation.

‍Here's the thing about Stinson: it's remote. You get there on a winding mountain road, lodging is limited, and on a summer weekend the town fills up with day-trippers before your guests even arrive. It's nothing like booking a venue in the heart of Marin and sending everyone to four nearby hotels and calling it done. If you don't plan for that reality, the weekend can feel chaotic before the ceremony even starts.

‍If you do plan for it — and plan early — it flows beautifully. The move we make with almost every couple is turning Willow Camp into their weekend's base camp. Once lodging there is secured and the group has a home base, everything else falls into place around it.

‍There's one more piece of the puzzle most couples don't know about going in: noise restrictions at Willow Camp mean the celebration usually needs to move between two venues — Willow Camp for the intimate parts of the weekend, and the Stinson Beach Community Center, with its stone fireplace and vaulted wood-beam ceilings, for the reception itself. Coordinating between two venues sounds like it should be a headache. In practice, it's just something we've done enough times that it isn't one.

‍That's really the whole job, honestly — we've spent years building real relationships with the people who manage both properties. We know what works at each one, what doesn't, and what a couple actually needs to make the whole weekend feel easy instead of stressful. That includes the kitchen: we cook confidently out of a mobile setup at Willow Camp and out of the full commercial kitchen at the Community Center, and most of what we're serving is sourced just minutes from either location.

‍Stinson Beach weddings ask more of a caterer and planner than a standard venue does. That's exactly why we built a dedicated approach for it — so the only thing our couples have to think about that weekend is each other.
