About Dee
Catering was never the plan.
I came up through the San Francisco restaurant scene in the years when it was electric — the Michael Bauer Top 100 era, when a review could change everything and the city's dining rooms were some of the most exciting places in the country to cook. I helped turn around a West Marin restaurant that went on to be recognized as one of the top ten in the Bay Area and made the Top 100 list twice.
I finally took the plunge and launched Dee Wagner Events, I began with event planning, Logistics and problem resolution has always been my super power. Things were going good—-really good then Covid stopped the world and event planning was one of the first things to disappear. The world wasn’t planning anything it was hunkering down.
Sitting still IS NOT one of my super powers so when a neighbor asked me if I could help organize some food for hungry folks in our community I got to work. Chef friends donated labor, a local kitchen donated space and we began a few then hundreds of lunches. Folks began to donate money to the effort and that’s how NoHungerHere was born our non profit that exists to this day making and delivering hot meals to hungry folks in our community.In the middle of all of that, another friend who managed a social club in the East Bay reached out. Would I be interested in delivering ready-to-reheat meals to some elderly club members who couldn't get out? Yes.Those families told other families, who told other families. Our home delivery service grew into a catering operation. That catering operation grew into the company we have today — full-service event planning and farm-to-table catering. Dee Wagner Events is built on lessons I learned managing a top 100 restaurant years ago—-It’s not just the food, it the whole package, from the first greeting at the door to the colors and textures of the space, the way the food looks, smells and tastes all of it together represents the service experience of a Dee Wagner event.
I'm based in Marin County and I serve San Francisco, the greater Bay Area, and Wine Country. I founded Dee Wagner Events, Roux Catering and NoHungerHere— and I'm the person who answers the phone.
